Our Five Point Strategy
Five pivotal objectives anchor our work, each designed to support our mission of providing access to secondary schools for women and girls in Afghanistan:
Recruitment & Placement
Each year, Alekain will recruit and place 10 girls into Smart Schools International, providing them with quality-accredited secondary education.
Tools for Learning
We will ensure students have the necessary technology, mainly—laptops, data plans, and ongoing tech support—to continue their education seamlessly from home.
College Admission
We will guide students through the college application process, helping them build portfolios and secure university admissions and scholarships, primarily in the United States and worldwide.
Lifelong Support
We will provide continuous mentorship, peer support, and resources to ensure they stay on track, grow, and succeed.
English Language Training
Smart Schools International is an English-medium institution. As such, English proficiency might become a barrier to participation. To close this equity gap, Alekain will identify applicants who lack the required language proficiency and offer them ESL classes for future rounds of admissions.

Fundraising
The Alekain Foundation relies on the generosity of its friends and supporters to fuel our mission. We organize regular crowdfunding campaigns and reach out to individuals and organizations passionate about empowering girls and women in Afghanistan. Whether through donations, sponsorships, or grants, we work tirelessly to secure the funds needed for essential resources like equipment and instruction.
Community Support at Its Core
With a rich network of community members and students in the U.S., The Alekain Foundation actively seeks peer mentors to guide students through their academic journey—especially as they begin their college applications.
Building Pathways
Alekain is actively building alliances with universities and other educational institutions.. We aim to secure full scholarships for our students at colleges across the U.S. These scholarships, along with support from host families, will ensure that our graduates continue their education and have the resources and support they will need to thrive.
