Fatimah Hossaini is an Afghanistan-Tehran-born artist, award-winning photographer, curator, and founder of the Mastooraat Organization. Celebrated as one of the youngest recipients of the prestigious Hypatia International Award, Fatimah’s dedication to research, art, and professional excellence is globally recognized.

The Women’s Forum in France has honored her as a rising talent and youth ambassador in 2022.

Fatimah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Photography from the University of Tehran, following an initial Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. She is a fellow of The New School’s Class of 2024-2025 fellowship in New York and an art resident at the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts (EFA) in the USA. She previously completed a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in France. From 2018 to 2019, she imparted her knowledge at the Faculty of Art, Kabul University. A tireless advocate for women’s and refugee rights, Fatimah’s work on national and international platforms has been instrumental in driving social change.  

Her art poignantly captures the narratives of identity and femininity, focusing on the Afghan experience. Renowned for her expertise in staged photography, Fatimah’s use of vibrant color and passionate storytelling are hallmarks of her acclaimed work. Her artwork has been exhibited globally, from solo exhibitions in Europe to renowned art festivals across Asia and the USA. Fatimah’s work and thought-provoking articles have also been featured in leading publications such as Time, The Guardian, Vogue, Arte, and many more.
