Zakia’s commitment to civic engagement and education began early—at just 14, she implemented a workshop in Daykundi province to raise awareness about children’s rights for students in grades 1-6 in her school. This experience ignited her drive to contribute to meaningful changes in society.
A merit-based U.S. Embassy scholar, Zakia began her undergraduate studies at the American University of Beirut before transferring to ASU and relocating to the U.S. In Lebanon, she actively worked on education initiatives for displaced children in refugee camps. She now teaches math and English to students in the U.S., helping them prepare for standardized tests across the country. She is dedicated to developing innovative digital solutions that expand access to educational resources, enhance organizational efficiency, improve outreach, and ensure that technology serves as a bridge to opportunity for underrepresented communities. Her journey embodies resilience, determination, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to empowering women through education and technology.
